Bent Tree Afterglow on Lake Huron — Fine Art Print
This is where the series began. The iconic bent willow at Goderich's Main Beach, caught in the afterglow of a Lake Huron sunset.
During the record high lake levels of 2019, many wondered how long this tree would stay rooted on the shore. Through the strength of its willow roots and the efforts of local shoreline fortification, it has held on — and become a symbol of persistence in times of adversity.
The original encaustic painting layers melted beeswax and pigment with photo transfer, capturing the tree's silhouette against a sky alive with colour. The delicate spiral forms in the foreground speak to the hidden life beneath the surface — roots, water, connection.
This fine art print is reproduced on cold press paper, capturing the luminous depth of the original encaustic work. The print retains the organic edge of the original painting and is hand-signed by the artist — so each one carries something of the handmade with it.
